Planet X134 has been coming into orbit weekly in the spring of the year 2008, as 16 musicians of various origins have been forming smaller fleets, from duets to quintets, to explore innovative jazz from the 60s and 70s on up, led by the mothership that is Myra Melford. In addition to collaborating on out-of-this-world arrangements to music by humans like Charles Mingus and Ornette Coleman, we have often rendezvoused with each other to generate many original compositions. We come in peace.

Jewel
Don't lose your dream
for if you do
you may lose your soul too
Hold on tightly
Don't you let go
even when you feel low
Please won't you reconsider
for the sake of those who dare to dream
When one dream shatters
the shards pierce those around
With thoughts that a time may come
when I too may have to give up
to climb the social ladder
in fear I may be drowned
I know you think me naive
not yet aware of reality
But I'm much gladder
down here on this ground
Far away from the rat race
I'm no prostitute, no sellout
I'll look you straight in the face
and ask you to hold out
Hold out, promise?
Don't you let go
even when you feel low
Don't lose your dream
It's your life-giving fuel
your most precious jewel
