Perform pieces from innovative jazz artists of the 60s and 70s up through and including music by contemporary composer/performer/improvisers who have come out of the jazz tradition. Compose as well as arrange pieces by musicians including Ornette Coleman, Charles Mingus and Coltrane.

Includes a collaborative concert featuring both the UC Berkeley Contemporary Jazz Ensemble and the UCLA Contemporary Jazz Large Ensemble at Hertz Hall, Berkeley.
